Blues respond to Marc Murphy’s ‘intriguing’ comments

Carlton remains hopeful Marc Murphy will re-sign with the club.

The Blues’ skipper is out of contract at the end of this season, and said last week “there’s a bit of thinking to do” about his future.

Carlton football manager Andrew McKay said contract negotiations are ongoing.

“We’re still talking to his management and they’re going along quite well,” McKay said.

“Marc’s stated he loves the club.

“He’s obviously our captain and a really important player to us.

“Those talks will unfold over the next few weeks and months.”

Herald Sun journalist Mick Warner said it was “intriguing” to hear a club captain say he has to think about his future.
