One AFL newsbreaker believes Collingwood’s stance against rumours surrounding coach Craig McRae means the story is now dead in the water.

McRae’s personal circumstances have been the subject of online commentary in recent weeks, with club CEO Craig Kelly releasing a strongly-worded statement this week after McRae was moved to address his playing group.

AFL Media’s Cal Twomey now believes the club’s strong statement meant there weren’t any basis in those rumours.

“The strength of the statement provided by Craig Kelly probably now stops the story,” he said on 3AW Football.
