Carlton defender’s career up in the air over COVID-19 vaccine stance

first on 3aw

Liam Jones is the Carlton footballer who is refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19, reports Sam McClure.

The Sportsday co-host said the key defender’s career was now up in the air.

“Unless he changes his mind, he will be unable to fulfil his contract, which means he will find himself off Carlton’s list and unable to join another list,” Scoop said.

“The AFL and AFLPA have made this cut and dry.”

Under the AFL’s vaccination policy, a player can have his contracted terminated, or be placed on an inactive list while on a smaller wage, if they refuse to get vaccinated and don’t have a valid medical exemption.

All Victorian-based players were required to have received their first dose by October 22.
