Caro “disappointed” in AFL response to Nathan Broad suspension
Caroline Wilson says she is “disappointed” in the AFL’s response to Nathan Broad’s suspension.
The Richmond player was suspended for three weeks after being revealed as the player involved in the topless photo scandal.
Wilson told Sportsday the AFL could have requested a more significant penalty if it felt three weeks wasn’t enough.
“I was disappointed in the AFL’s statement,” Wilson said.
“I don’t know why Broad is in any way exonerated by the fact he fronted up and apologised? He had no other choice.”
AFL General Counsel Andrew Dillon had earlier said “the AFL acknowledge Nathan’s cooperation and public apology.”
Sportsday host Gerard Healy said the penalty wasn’t severe enough.
“You miss three weeks for a hamstring,” Gerard said.
“It should have been five – which still compares very favourably with the potential outcome of any court proceedings had the young girl pressed charges.”
