CFA volunteer numbers drop with concerns process to join is ‘disconnected’

The CFA is calling for more volunteers to join the brigade ahead of bushfire season after volunteer numbers fell to 29,000.

But volunteer of 40 years in the Shepperton region, Craig Goodwin, says the process to join is too disconnected.

“It’s all online … it might take three, four, five months before anyone even gets back to you, and by that time you’ve lost interest,” he told Tony Jones, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
