It’s been revealed the dog that mauled a small child at Berwick overnight was unregistered and had a history of concerning behaviour.
3AW Mornings understands the dog that attacked the girl, 10, in her backyard was a Boerboel, owned by the family.
The dog has since been destroyed.

Neighbours rushed to the girl’s aid up on hearing screams from the Skyline Way home shortly before 8.30pm.
“I heard screaming,” Ross and John were told by neighbour Jimmy, who rushed to the home’s garage and saw a “massive frothing head coming through the door”.
“It was out of control … the dog was going berserk.”

The child was taken to hospital in a critical condition with injuries to her neck, legs and groin.
She is now in a stable condition in the Royal Children’s Hospital.
It’s believed the girl and her sister, 7, were home alone at the time.
Neighbour Jimmy said he believed the parents were at the gym.
