Stonnington Council has backed away from a controversial rate rise, voting to freeze the proposed increase.

It comes after several businesses voiced their anger on 3AW Drive.

Councillor Marcia Griffin told Tom Elliott they had listened to the feedback.

It will apply to all ratepayers.

“We’ve got rid of the two per cent increase and now there is a two per cent rates waiver,” she explained.
