Crow midfielder reported for bump on Zach Merrett

There are concerns for Essendon star Zach Merrett after a heavy hit on Friday night.

Merrett was collected by Adelaide midfielder Richard Douglas in the second quarter, with the Bomber gun ruled out of the match with concussion.

Bombers legend Matthew Lloyd said it’s shocking timing for Merrett.

“He got concussed during the JLT Series and also once at training. This would be three in eight weeks,” Lloydy said.

Tony Shaw said he doesn’t think Douglas has anything to worry about after replays didn’t show the bump was high.

“That was a perfect bump. Straight into the shoulder blade,” Shawry said.

“If that is reportable, our game is going backwards.”
