Tony Shaw and Mick Warner have had a heated debate over Ben Cousins’ Hall of Fame credentials.

The Herald Sun journalist told 3AW Football the AFL should consider putting the fallen star in the Hall of Fame “as a gesture”.

But Shaw said people have tried to reach out to Cousins before.

“Ben had more chances as an ex-footballer than any man on this earth,” Shaw said.

“They put their hand out (to him), and he spat in their face.”

Mick said he has sympathy for Cousins.

“I don’t think he deliberately spat in their face, he’s a drug addict,” he said.

“I’m not blaming him for being a drug addict.”
