Collingwood Football Club has assured die-hard Pies who missed out on grand final tickets due to a ticketing “stuff-up” will get a seat.

Some priority two and three Magpies members were allocated seats ahead of priority one members, who had been guaranteed seats.

Helen Boyle told Neil Mitchell she pays $1000 a year to be a priority one member, but she missed out on tickets.

“A membership is like a contract. You’re promised things and they’ve let us down,” she said.

“This week we should be celebrating and soaking up the atmosphere but yesterday it was pretty depressing not knowing what was going on. We’re kind of in limbo.”

Ticketek has provided the following statement: “Ticketek would like to assure all Collingwood members that the ballot process for the AFL Grand Final ran as planned, and without any issue, and as per the instruction from the AFL, Collingwood Football Club and the MCG.”

In a statement, Collingwood CEO Craig Kelly said the 37 priority one members who didn’t select the standing room option and missed out on tickets through the allocated ballot will receive a seat, and all P1 members who received standing room tickets will have their seats changed to allocated seating. He says the 700 people who were told their card had failed or they had insufficient funds are not at risk of losing their allocation.

“We call on Ticketek to improve their system so that the moment funds are taken out of bank accounts, tickets are released to Members immediately,” Mr Kelly’s statement read.
