Just one week after declaring the Federer v Nadal Australian Open Final ‘one of Melbourne’s greatest nights of sport’, Dwayne Russell believes it’s been trumped.

Dwayne said the birth of AFL Women’s said he got more pleasure seeing the game’s progress than he did watching the historic tennis match.

‘I had half a tear in my eye,’ Dwayne said.

‘It was just so nice to see what our sport’s done.’

Dwayne said the standard will improve as players become more professional over the years.

‘There’s a lot of female sports that are going to be worried by this, because we’re going to drag more and more stars from every other field,’ he said.
