Dwayne Russell thinks a red-card system in the AFL is inevitable.

And he said it will take something drastic impacting on a Victorian club before the league is sparked into action.

“The send-off rule will 100 per cent come in one day,” Dwayne said on 3AW Football.

“It will come in in our lifetime.

“But it won’t come in until a big Melbourne team loses a star in the finals.

“That’s the only way I reckon it will come in, and that’s the wrong way.”

Dwayne said recent incidents which saw Brisbane’s Harris Andrews and Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray out of the game early didn’t raise enough outrage in Melbourne.
