One person has died after an e-scooter and car collided in Narre Warren on Thursday.

A white Volkswagen station wagon was travelling outbound on the Princes Highway when it was involved in a crash with an electric scooter at the intersection of Raven Crescent at about 5.15pm.

The e-scooter rider died at the scene.

The rider has not yet been formally identified.

The Volkswagen driver, who was not injured, stopped to assist.

The incident comes as concerns about the safety of electric scooters in Melbourne rise, with a child and vision impaired woman struck this week.

The fatality brings the number of lives lost on Victoria’s roads this year to 34, compared to 22 at the same time last year.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
