Eddie McGuire defends The Footy Show amid poor ratings
Eddie McGuire has defended The Footy Show despite its poor ratings.
The long-running Channel 9 show has been getting smashed by Channel 7’s The Front Bar in recent times.
But McGuire told 3AW Football it doesn’t necessarily spell the end for his show.
“When we started this show, I was 28 and single,” he said.
“(The Front Bar) is a good show, but they’re different shows. I’m not necessarily competing with them.
“They’ve got the zeitgeist of what people are looking for. We just have to find where our niche is again.
“We want to get through the 25 years of The Footy Show, and we’ll see where we got to from there.”
Eddie said he wants to see controversial co-host Sam Newman continue in his role.
“I’m hoping he will. He’s an integral part.”
