Essendon assistant answers key midfield question on three top draft picks

How three top draft picks are tracking at Essendon remains a key question as the team continues to evolve.

Ben Hobbs, Archie Perkins and Elijah Tsatas are all top 15 draft picks, but haven’t been used regularly in the Bombers’ midfield.

Assistant coach Daniel Giansiracusa said the club’s injury crisis hadn’t hit the on-ballers, meaning there wasn’t any room to play them in the middle.

“The one area in our side that has still got the depth is the midfield,” he said on Wide Wide of Sports.

“When you talk about Hobbs, Perkins and Tsatas … who do you push out (out of the midfield to accommodate them)? That’s the response to that (question).”
