Essendon confirms serious training injury to Dyson Heppell

Dyson Heppell will miss a large chunk of the season.

The Essendon captain fractured his ankle at training on Friday.

He needs surgery.

It’s unrelated to the foot problem that had previously bothered Heppell.

The Bombers said they were “hopeful” of getting Heppell back on the field later this year.
