The most anticipated weather forecast of the year has been released — and the early signs are good.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, a top of around 29° is expected on Christmas Day but that could fluctuate depending on a predicted southerly change.

Senior Meteorologist Dean Stewart said Melbourne could be set for a top temperature in the mid-twenties if the change reaches southern Victoria in the morning.

But if it arrives in the afternoon, the mercury could exceed 30°.

Either way, at this stage there’s no rain in sight.

As for Christmas Eve, we’re being told to brace for a sunny top of 31° with temperatures expected to push into the mid-thirties in parts of Victoria.
