Former Blues forward urges club to trade pick one if the right player came up
Former Carlton star Jarrad Waite has urged the Blues to chase a big-name in this trade period.
He said they couldn’t afford another year like 2018, where they won just two games and finished bottom of the ladder.
“They need a star now,” he told Trade Wrap.
“Missing out on Shiel was massive for them and they don’t want another year where they finish bottom of the ladder.
“They need to show (in 2019) a pretty steep incline if they want players to come to the club (during next year’s trade period).
“They don’t have to win every game but they’ve got to play exciting football.
Waite said if a player like GWS Giants midfielder Stephen Coniglio was available, he’d trade the club’s pick one in a heartbreak.
“Putting my Carlton hat on, they need (a star player),” he said.
“They would not want that pressure again that a disappointing year brings.”
