FULL TIME

Adelaide has kicked away for a 55-point win.

But the story wasn’t all bad for Carlton, with plenty of positives to take from their effort.

Warren Tredrea said they Blues have a massive chance against arch-rival Essendon in Round 8.

“The Bombers are on their knees,” Tredders said after the game.

“If Carlton bring that effort, they can win next week.”

HALF TIME

Adelaide leads by 17 points, but there’s been a lot to like about Carlton.

Jimmy Bartel and Warren Tredrea were pleasantly surprised by their competitiveness, particularly in the second quarter.

“They put Adelaide under pressure around the contest,” Jimmy said.

“They’ve got to work really hard, though, if they’re going to stay in the game.”

Tredders said Adelaide has shown a tendency to underperform when they are heavy favourites.

THE BUILD-UP

Adelaide has won their last three against Carlton.

And for Blues fans, that fact comes tinged with extra sadness knowing so many Crows used to wear Navy Blue.

Tonight, Eddie Betts returns to join Sam Jacobs and Bryce Gibbs (above) in taking on their former club.

Not many in the football world are prepared to make a case for the Blues tonight.

Can they spring an almighty upset?
