FULL TIME

Adelaide has closed out a great week with a Thursday night win over the Cats.

After Rory Sloane extended his contract during the week, the Crows won a hard-fought contest by 15 points.

Rory Laird (43 touches off half back) was named best afield by Warren Tredrea.

Crow star Bryce Gibbs told 3AW Football the whole club was boosted by Sloane’s signature.

“He’s such a competitor, a great club man,” Gibbs said.

“He’s an awesome bloke.

“I think he was pretty relieved, and everyone’s rapt he’s going to be here for the next five years.”

HALF TIME

Adelaide lead by eight points at the main break, but their skipper might be in trouble.

Taylor Walker has been reported for a bump on Zach Tuohy in the opening quarter.

Warren Tredrea said the act was “just dumb”.

“That’s not toughness,” Tredders said.

“Tough is when you go back with the flight of the ball.”

LATE CHANGE

Adelaide has made a big late change, with key defender Daniel Talia failing to get up after suffering a foot injury last week.

Alex Keath comes into the backline.

Geelong is unchanged.

THE BUILD-UP

Adelaide’s week started with a disappointing defeat to Richmond.

But then they regained star forward Eddie Betts.

And then Rory Sloane announced he’s staying at the club.

It’s been a positive week for the Crows. Can they finish it off in the same direction, and keep touch with the Top 8?
