FULL TIME

Essendon has won a bruising encounter by 43 points.

The Bombers finished without any rotations after injuries to Cale Hooker (knee), Orazio Fantasia (hamstring), Brendon Goddard (knee), and Adam Saad (concussion).

The result leaves St Kilda stuck inside the bottom four.

Tony Shaw spotted Saints defender Jake Carlisle having a friendly chat with some former teammates.

It came just weeks after Bernie Vince came under fire for the same reason after Melbourne’s loss to Geelong.

“It looked like Carlisle just said ‘I’ll meet you back at your place for a few beers’,” Shawry said.

“Your team’s just been belittled, it’s been embarrassed.

“I don’t know whether it hurts (him) enough.

“He’s a senior player at that club now… that’s not good enough.”

HALF TIME

Essendon leads by 24 points at the main break, but they have serious concerns.

The Bombers are down at least two rotations after injuries to Brendon Goddard (knee) and Adam Saad (concussion).

Ben McNeice (knee) and Kyle Langford (shoulder) have also spent time with the medical staff.

Nat Edwards gave an update on the injury carnage during the half-time break.

THE BUILD-UP

St Kilda need a response after last week’s capitulation against the Bulldogs.

But a St Kilda upset would end the Bombers’ finals hopes, so the Bombers won’t be letting the Saints have it all their way.

It might not be the most glamorous Friday night contest of 2018, but it will be hotly contested.
