FULL TIME

Geelong has won a scrappy game by 28 points on Joel Selwood’s 30th birthday.

The Cats’ skipper celebrated the occasion with 20 disposals and six tackles.

He told 3AW Football he’ll take the four points.

“It wasn’t the prettiest win,” Selwood said.

“You don’t have to win pretty all the time.

“We’ve got plenty of work to do, just like other sides.”

HALF TIME

Geelong leads by 14 points at the main break.

The Blues’ second quarter was impressive, but they returned just six behinds to show for it.

The match was put on pause when emerging Cat forward Esava Ratugolea suffered a serious leg injury (below).

During the half-time break, Fox Sports newsbreaker Tom Morris told 3AW Football about an impending development in the world of AFL umpiring.

The AFL will trial having umpires in fixed positions on the ground, to ensure the best umpires can umpire for longer.
