FULL TIME

Melbourne has coasted to a massive win at the G.

The Dees booted nine goals in the first quarter en route to a 96-point thumping.

Perhaps incredibly, considering the Demons kicked 21 goals to seven, Sun Alex Sexton was the game’s leading goal-kicker with five.

Matthew Richardson said Clayton Oliver was the best player on the ground.

“31 possessions, two goals, the most score involvements, the most contested possessions, and nearly 500 metres gained,” Richo said.

He said the Demons still need to claim a major scalp before he’s fully sold.

But Oliver told 3AW the players don’t need to prove anything to the outside world.

“We’ve got a lot of self-belief in our club,” Oliver said.

“We just stick to what we need to do and it’ll take care of itself.”

THE BUILD-UP

On paper, it looks like the Dees should win this comfortably.

But if this round has shown us anything, it’s that footy is alive and well as a contest!

The Suns were profoundly disappointing against the Blues last week, just when it looked like they might have turned the corner.

You can bet they’ll be giving Melbourne their all on Sunday afternoon.
