Jones told 3AW Football there’s something special about this playing group.
“I’ve never felt that 12 or 13 year of playing,” he said.
“What we’ve built over the last four years… that’s why I wanted to persist with this club and fought through the difficult times.”

MORE CROWD ISSUES
There’s been another crowd incident at Etihad Stadium.
Boundary rider Tiff Cherry says a fan has been ejected after becoming violent.

INJURY TOLL
There’s been a heavy injury toll in the first half.
Demon defender Jake Lever (left knee) spent a lot of time in the rooms and it doesn’t look like he will return. Jake Melksham (ankle) is playing on through injury.
For the Dogs, Tory Dickson (hamstring) is out for the game.

MILESTONE MAN
Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin spoke in glowing terms about Nathan Jones ahead of the co-captain’s 250th game.
“He really typifies the spirit we’ve been trying to generate,” Goodwin told 3AW before the game.
“He’s seen some really tough times. He’s been incredibly loyal.
“All he’s really wanted is to take us from being a mediocre footy club to being back in the position it should be.
“He’s got a lot of love and care for his teammates and his teammates respond when he’s talking to them.”

THE BUILD-UP
Melbourne comes into this clash in some sort of form.
In fact, if the Dees win all four quarters today, that will make 22 in a row – an all-time record.
But the Bulldogs are in desperate need of a win to turn their season around.
If the Demons think they’ll get it all their way today, they’ve got another thing coming.
