Gerard Healy says AFLW needs more goals.

But Healy said it’s about more than just excitement for the viewers.

“No goals… means no ads, and with no ads, there’s no money,” Gerard told Sportsday on Wednesday evening.

The AFL has sent a memo to AFLW clubs, encouraging them to play more attacking footy and reduce congestion.

The memo has attracted criticism from people who don’t think the AFL should be meddling with club tactics, but Dwayne Russell said every sport, even long-established ones, need guidance from their governing body.

“AFLW’s been around for one year. Of course it needs guidance,” Dwayne said.
