Gerard Healy reacts to Simon Goodwin reports (and the questions it raises)
Former Melbourne star Gerard Healy says a Herald Sun report claiming the Demons considered standing Simon Goodwin down as coach prior to last season should be viewed as a “historical piece” and it highlighted the impressive efforts of Goodwin to lead the club to a drought-breaking premiership.
Sam McClure said the report, and timing of it, raised several questions.
“Number one – who is the leak?” he said on 3AW.
McClure took interest in AFL boss Gillon McLachlan being quoted in the report from a meeting the league had with Melbourne officials.
“There were only three other people in that Zoom meeting,” Scoop pointed out.
“One is Glen Bartlett, the former president, one is Richard Goyder, and there was another Melbourne board member.
“I’ll put it to you, Gerard, that the leak didn’t come from the AFL because there is no way the AFL would want this out there.”
