GROW UP: Police call for calm from parents punching on
Rowdy, boozy and abusive spectators at junior footy matches have been told to “grow up” by the police chief commissioner.
Several examples of aggressive behaviour at grassroots venues have surfaced on 3AW in recent weeks.

This week, the Yarra Junior Football League has taken a decisive stance by putting St Mary’s Greenborough on a $1500 bond for 18 months.
Graham Ashton told 3AW Mornings it’s not the only league dealing with the issue.
“It’s an increasing issue for us,” he said.
“It’s mostly spectators wanting to get involved, either punching on with other spectators or wanting to take on umpires.
“You’ve just got to call for some maturity from spectators, often parents.”
