Hawthorn president hopeful Cyril Rioli one day returns to club

Hawthorn president Andy Gowers says the door is still open for former Hawk Cyril Rioli to return to the club when the time is right.

The four-time premiership Hawk’s relationship with the club remains strained as a result of the club’s recent racism saga.

Gowers said while Rioli was invited, and declined to attend the club’s recent centenary celebration game, there was hope one day the much-loved figure will return to the club in some form.

“He knows he’s welcome (back at the club),” he said on 3AW.
