How Joel Selwood would deal with Willie Rioli after AFL handed down sanction

Former Geelong captain Joel Selwood has outlined how he would deal with the current furore surrounding Port Adelaide forward Willie Rioli.

The AFL confirmed late on Thursday that Rioli would be suspended for this weekend’s Showdown – a match he had already withdrawn from – following revelations of several incidents of threatening on-field behaviour.

Speaking on Wide World of Sports, the Geelong legend compared the current situation to how he dealt with premiership teammate Tyson Stengle in his first year at the Cats.

“The challenge at the moment that I would find with Willie (Rioli) is just making sure your relationship (with him) is tight,” he said on 3AW.
