How John Longmire’s job at Sydney became ‘almost untenable’

John Longmire’s senior coaching role became largely untenable after Sydney’s smashing in this year’s Grand Final, according to Caroline Wilson.

The decorated coach announced on Tuesday he would step away from the role, moving into an off-field position with Dean Cox taking over for the 2025 season.

Caro said it was the right call for Longmire to step aside, saying “something was broken” which led to a Grand Final performance against Brisbane which went “horribly wrong”.

“It was the only decision John Longmire could make,” she said on Wide World of Sports.

“It almost became untenable for him to go on after that performance in the Grand Final.”
