Geelong is choosing to take the positives out of their first loss of the season.

The Cats were defeated by Melbourne last Saturday night, with forward Gryan Miers saying the result is a “mid-season wake up call” as they prepare to host Port Adelaide back at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night.

“It was frustrating on the night but when you wake up the next day, you (realise) it actually isn’t the worst thing to happen to us,” he told Wide World of Sports.

“Melbourne will be very pleased with the way they played – it isn’t taking anything away from them.

“But it’s a mid-season wake up call and nothing you’re doing is perfect.”
