‘It seems very coincidental’: Gerard Healy grills Roos boss on exodus

North Melbourne has attempted to water-down the significance of news that three recruiting staff have left the struggling club within days.

Mark Finnigan (National Recruiting Manager), Glenn Luff (Head of Player Personnel) and Ben Birthisel (National Recruiting Officer) have all quit in the past two weeks, with the mid-season draft fast approaching.

Roos GM of Football Brady Rawlings tonight bristled at suggestions all three had left together in disillusionment at management, insisting on Sportsday each had independent reasons.

“It seems very coincidental,” 3AW host Gerard Healy pointed out, before asking why the most recent walk-out, Luff, offered his resignation today.

“He’s decided to pursue other opportunities. That’s probably more a question for Glenn than me, Gerard,” Rawlings said.

The former North Melbourne veteran of more than 245 games insisted the Kangaroos were well-placed for next week’s mid-season draft.

“We’re really well-prepared for that; there’s nothing that’s going to change between now and next Wednesday that’s going to affect anything that we do.”
