Jake Stringer’s admission moments after slotting winning goal

Jake Stringer admits he was unaware of the scoreboard shortly before slotting the game-winning goal on Saturday.

The Bombers forward came up clutch when it mattered, kicking a long goal to haul his side over the line by four points at Marvel Stadium.

Speaking shortly after the match, Stringer told 3AW Football he was solely focused on the moment and wasn’t aware Essendon was still trailing St Kilda before the shot on goal.

“I just back my own ability,” he said post-match.

“I didn’t know whether we were up or down (on the scoreboard), I was just focused on kicking it.”
