Jimmy Bartel calls on the AFL for vaccine clarity

Jimmy Bartel has called on the AFL and AFLPA to make their COVID-19 vaccination policy clear after premiership Demon Tom McDonald said vaccine mandates were “ethically wrong” in an interview with Channel Nine, despite being vaccinated himself.

Speaking on 3AW, Bartel said players would continually be asked about the issue until the league had an official stance.

“You are putting it on the players,” he said.

The AFL has strongly encouraged vaccination but is yet to explain what would happen if a player refused to be vaccinated, which has emerged as a possible issue with an Adelaide player in the AFLW who is yet to be vaccinated.
