Joel Selwood weighs in on big fines for careless umpire contact
Essendon has been fined $20,000 by the AFL, becoming the second club this season to receive a financial sanction for a fifth charge of careless contact with an umpire.
On Sports Today, Joel Selwood had his say on umpire contact fines, saying 70% of ball-ups are going back towards the umpire, which will make it hard for players to avoid “careless contact”.
“They’ve probably got to expect at times, they are going to get in the middle of the road,” Selwood said on Sports Today.
