A 71-year-old motorcyclist has died after striking a pothole on the Western Highway on Sunday.

The death comes just days after a report from Victoria’s Auditor-General found almost half of Victoria’s road network was in “poor condition”.

Opposition spokesperson on roads and road safety Danny O’Brien told 3AW Breakfast hosts Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft that fixing the state’s roads needed to be the government’s highest priority.

Press PLAY to hear O’Brien explain why Victoria’s road network could get worse before it gets better

“It is probably going to get worse before it gets better because we’ve got such a bad state of our roads at the moment,” he said.
