The Labor government is in the middle of a spat between two of Victoria’s most powerful unions.

The CFMEU has publicly expressed its “dismay” at the United Firefighters Union’s campaign against Jane Garrett.

UFU boss Peter Marshall has warned Labor against a seat reshuffle that would see Ms Garrett land a seat in the upper house.

Neil Mitchell says Mr Marshall is trying to “destroy” her career.

CFMEU branch secretary Shaun Reardon has since told the Premier to “stand strong against misogyny, workplace bullying and violence against women”.

Mr Reardon says Ms Garrett has been “scapegoated”.
