The AFL is investigating Sunday night’s booze-fuelled brawl between Melbourne teammates Steven May and Jake Melksham.

The league announced on Thursday its integrity unit would look over the version of events presented by the Demons.

May was suspended by the club for drinking alcohol against concussion protocols.

The two players became involved in a public scrap at Prahran’s Entrecote restaurant.

“No matter what the situation or circumstances, violence is never the answer,” the AFL said in a statement.

“As professional footballers, as people, we expect better and while the club has taken the matter extremely seriously, the AFL is currently conducting its own investigation.”

Sam McClure shared fresh details about what happened that night on 3AW on Thursday.
