Leigh Matthews’ BIG call about Cyril Rioli

Leigh Matthews thinks Cyril Rioli is in Hawthorn’s all-time best team.

Rioli, 28, announced his retirement on Wednesday after 189 games, 275 goals, and four premierships.

And the greatest Hawk of them all told 3AW Football there’d be space for Cyril if they were to select Hawthorn’s all-time side.

“If you picked the best-ever team, that role that he plays, that specific Cyril Rioli role, he’d be in it,” Leigh said.

“We always think the small forwards can’t play midfield.

“But if you’re a Cyril Rioli-type class forward half player, they’re harder to find than midfielders.”
