Leigh Matthews’ cheeky response to Greg Swann’s new AFL role

Leigh Matthews thinks outgoing Brisbane CEO Greg Swann is overqualified as the AFL’s new football performance boss.
The long-time club administrator will leave the Lions to take up the newly-created AFL role overseeing umpiring, MRO and rules of the game.

Matthews, who is a close ally of Swann’s, cheekily suggested on Wide World of Sports he wasn’t sure why he took on the role, suggesting he’d potentially be a better fit as AFL CEO Andrew Dillon’s understudy.
“I’m not quite sure why he’s doing it,” Matthews joked on 3AW.
