Leigh Matthews pinpoints pivotal moment in Carlton’s downfall

Wide World of Sports

Leigh Matthews says there’s one particular moment which he believes was the start of Carlton’s poor run of form, which could see them miss finals this season.

The Blues have lost five of their last six games and are now dealing with a full-blown injury crisis ahead of a pivotal clash against West Coast.

Matthews said on Wide World of Sports Carlton hasn’t look the same since ruckman Tom De Koning went down injured earlier in the year.

“I reckon Carlton are outsiders with the team they’re fielding (against West Coast),” he said on 3AW.

“As soon as they lost (Tom) De Koning…he’s a fast ruckman. He sharpens up a slow midfield.”
