Leigh Matthews says AFL should have ONE priority when deciding on grand final start time

Leigh Matthews says the AFL commission should have one priority when deciding what time the grand final should start – doing what’s best for the game.
Matthews, who says his preference was “probably” to keep it on a Saturday afternoon, said the fact an overwhelming majority of fans want the match to stay at 2.30pm wasn’t a good enough reason alone to keep it there.
“The same people who don’t want to change the grand final timeslot wouldn’t have wanted a national competition, they wouldn’t have wanted the suburban grounds to go, they wouldn’t have wanted football to be played all over the weekend,” he said.
