Lidia Thorpe urges AFL to BAN Sam Newman

Indigenous Victorian Senator Lidia Thorpe has urged the AFL to “show leadership” and ban Sam Newman from attending AFL matches.

“They should ban Sam Newman … until he apologises for his ignorant disrespect towards the first peoples of these lands,” she told Tony Jones, filling in for Neil Mitchell.

Her comments come after Sam Newman encouraged Australians to boo and slow clap during Welcome to Country ceremonies.
