Brisbane captain Emma Zielke says AFLW is ready for 18 players.

In the inaugural season, teams in the AFLW competition fielded 16 players in a bid keep the game open and uncongested.

But Zielke told 3AW Football the extra two players wouldn’t make a massive difference.

“Having 18 players would be just the same,” she said.

Zielke said there has been an explosion in Aussie Rules in Queensland since the inception of AFLW.

“We had one team at Coorparoo last year – this year we had three,” she said.
