The Suns have won a thriller by three points.

Peter Wright kicked the winning goal with just 90 seconds remaining.

Leigh Matthews said Jarryd Lyons was the best player on the ground.

“He got a lot of the ball, tackled well, and had good clearance numbers,” Lethal said.

HALF TIME

The Suns lead by five points in a game that hasn’t reached any great heights.

Pearce Hanley has racked up 19 touches, while Tom Lynch has two goals.

3AW expert Leigh Matthews said West Coast’s defensive pressure hasn’t been up to scratch.

“20 is a good quarter for tackles – the Eagles have only had 24,” Lethal said.

Gold Coast CEO Mark Evans joined the 3AW commentary box before the game.

He dismissed criticism of Gary Ablett for staying in China as “a load of rubbish”.

“He’s one of the most professional, prepared players I’ve ever seen,” Evans said.

“He’ll be here doing things on his day off because it’s part of his routine.”

It’s a Coast-to-Coast battle as the Suns host the Eagles on Saturday afternoon.

They may be separated by three wins and nine places on the ladder, but this will be closer than the numbers suggest.

Selection has dealt these two teams a mixed bag, with two superstars on opposite sides of the team sheet.

Superstar Gary Ablett returns for the Suns, but Coleman Medalist Josh Kennedy is injured for the visitors.

Can the Suns rise for their first win over West Coast? Or will the Eagles bounce back from last week’s loss?
