THE WASH-UP

Hawthorn’s Will Langford is in the spotlight after planting a cheeky kiss on the face of opponent Jarrad McVeigh.

But his skipper Jarryd Roughead told 3AW he has no issue with it.

“It’s Langers’ way trying to get under the skin of an opposition player,” Roughead said on Saturday afternoon.

Roughead said Hawks fans can be excited by the young players driving the team forward at the moment.

FULL TIME

Hawthorn has beaten Sydney by six at the MCG.

It’s the same margin that the Hawks won by in their Round 10 clash – which was the last time Sydney lost.

The Swans took the lead early in the final term with a running goal to Tom Papley.

But Liam Shiels put Hawthorn in front at the 14-minute mark with a contentious goal that appeared to be touched on the line.

However, the review was deemed inconclusive, and the umpires’ initial call of six points stood.

HALF TIME

Hawthorn leads by 21 points at the main break.

Shaun Burgoyne and Ryan Schoenmakers are the main goal-kickers, each with two.

Matthew Lloyd said Hawthorn’s plan has been to frustrate the Swans.

“It works well for a disciplined, structured side,” Lloydy said.

Sydney has made a very late change.

Gary Rohan is out with back spasms, with Jordan Foote coming in.

It follows the earlier withdrawal of Jake Lloyd.

=====

Injured Hawk Jaeger O’Meara spoke to 3AW before the game.

O’Meara spoke about the big decision of changing clubs, and offered some advice for a young Giant who’s currently weighing up his future.

The Swans have withdrawn Jake Lloyd ahead of the clash.

Lloyd travelled with the side to Melbourne but assistant coach Josh Francou said he “didn’t come up”.

Hawthorn is unchanged.

Two modern day giants clash at the MCG under Friday night lights.
