Essendon great Matthew Lloyd has played down a tense exchange with Chris Judd on Footy Classified over Paddy McCartin.

Judd asked Lloyd on Monday night if he “regretted fat-shaming” the St Kilda youngster last month after McCartin spoke candidly about his battle with diabetes last week.

Lloyd told Judd to “be careful” with what he was saying.

Speaking on Sportsday, Lloyd said he was sympathetic of McCartin’s issues and his comments about his fitness related to his ability as an AFL footballer.

“One thing I’ve learned from Footy Classified is that you don’t hold grudges,” Lloyd said.
