A man has died in hospital after a horrific crash in Norlane on Wednesday afternoon.

The 42-year-old Buchan man suffered very serious injuries when the ute he was travelling in crashed into a tree on Melbourne Road just after 4.30pm.

The driver, a 44-year-old Norlane man, remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The exact cause of the crash is still being investigated.

3AW Drive was alerted to the nasty scene by Hugh.

“The car is in at least four pieces,” he said.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything as bad.

“It looks like a bomb has gone off.”

Kathryn Stewart, who helped revive the man at the scene, pleaded with drivers to take care on the roads.

“We all have a duty of care to allow people to get home safe,” she said.

“Please think before you get behind the wheel.”
