Matthew Lloyd lifts lid on star-studded mid-week meeting with Zach Merrett

Matthew Lloyd has lifted the lid on the star-studded mid-week meeting with Essendon captain Zach Merrett.

Several Bombers greats including Lloyd, James Hird, Jobe Watson and Dyson Heppell were there at a cafe in South Yarra on Wednesday, and Lloyd has spoken on how it all came about.

“He has a thirst for knowledge and a thirst to get better,” Lloyd said on Wide World of Sports.

“We feel like it’s just so much on him from a football perspective and a leadership perspective that we’re starting to feel for him.”

Injured Bombers defender Jordan Ridley said he only heard of the meeting from Dyson Heppell’s daily vlogs.

“I think that can only be a good thing,” Ridley said about the meeting.
