Matthew Lloyd re-lives his horror preliminary final in 1996

Matthew Lloyd has opened up about his horror preliminary final in 1996 at the SCG – the last time a preliminary final was played at the ground.

“I thought, I’m in over my head here,” Lloyd said on 3AW Football.

“I was 18 and 80 kilograms.”

He ended up in hospital and in a seriously bad way.
